How do Premier Auction and Weekly Auction bidding work?
Approved bidders can start bidding as soon as the auction is live. All bids are entered using the maximum bid model (see details below). Bids will be submitted in fixed increments only.
At 7:00 p.m. PT, Extended Bidding will start (see details below). If you are the only bidder on an item when the listing closes, you are the winner.
Weekly Auction listings end when no new bids are entered on that listing before the end of any given Extended Bidding window. Premier Auction listings all end at the same time, when an Extended Bidding window ends with no new bids on any listings.
How do maximum bids work?
All bids are placed using the "maximum bid" model, which typically represents the highest price the bidder is willing to pay for an item. When a bidder places a maximum bid, the bid will automatically increase competitively, up to but never over, the maximum bid amount. You will be notified if you are the highest bidder, if you've been outbid, and if you've won the item.
Maximum bids are only viewable by the client that submitted the bid. Fanatics Collect does not have access to this information and cannot view bidders’ maximum bids. Maximum bid information is managed on dedicated IT infrastructure and is contractually monitored by an external IT firm. Third-party management of maximum bids ensures the privacy and confidentiality of maximum bid amounts. The IT firm audits access to the data to confirm that no Fanatics Collect personnel ever have access to this information.
What are the bid increments?
All items will be sold to the highest bidder when the auction timer expires. All maximum bids will be placed in the following increments:
- $5 - $50 is a $1 bid increment
- $50 - $100 is a $2 bid increment
- $100 - $200 is a $5 bid increment
- $200 - $500 is a $10 bid increment
- $500 - $2,000 is a $25 bid increment
- $2,000 - $5,000 is a $100 bid increment
- $5,000 - $10,000 is a $250 bid increment
- $10,000 - $30,000 is a $500 bid increment
- $30,000 - $50,000 is a $2,000 bid increment
- $50,000 - $100,000 is a $5,000 bid increment
- $100,000 - $200,000 is a $10,000 bid increment
- $200,000 - $500,000 is a $20,000 bid increment
- $500,000 - $1,500,000 is a $50,000 bid increment

How does Premier Auction Extended Bidding work?
Each Premier Auction will close with an Extended Bidding period.
Extended bidding starts at 7:00 p.m. PT on the closing night of the auction.
All registered Fanatics Collect users in good standing can take part in Extended Bidding.
From 7:00 - 7:30 p.m., bids are extended for 5 minutes. Each time a new bid is placed, the 5-minute timer for all listings will reset.
The Extended Bidding timer is accelerated twice, after 7:30 p.m. and again after 8:00 p.m.. When the first bid is placed after 7:30 p.m., the timer for all listings will reset to 2 minutes, and when the first bid is placed after 8:00 p.m., the timer will reset to 1 minute. Each time a new bid is placed, the timer will reset for all listings in the auction.
When no new bids are placed on any listing before the timer expires, the entire auction will end.
IMPORTANT: If any collectible receives a bid during the extended period, the entire auction extends.
What is Premier Auction half-bidding?
During 1-minute extended bidding window(s), all bid increments will be halved.
What is the buyer's premium?
A buyer's premium equal to 20% of the winning bid amount will be added to the winning bid to establish the final price of an auction listing. Therefore, the price you pay for an item will be equal to your winning bid plus 20% of that winning bid, plus applicable taxes and shipping costs if you choose to have your collectible sent to you. The buyer's premium is not reflected in the maximum bid in the auction bidding tool, though you are notified of the price including the premium when you enter your maximum bid.
Do I need a Fanatics Collect account to participate in the Weekly Auction?
Yes. Click here to register. All members must provide a valid first and last name, address, email address, and phone number to become a member. We require that all members verify their email address and phone number.
What is Extended Bidding?
Fanatics Collect auctions feature an Extended Bidding model. It ensures the bidder willing to pay the most wins while closing the auction as quickly as possible to keep the experience secure and professional. It also removes the possibility of “sniping”.
How does Weekly Auction Extended Bidding work?
All registered Fanatics Collect users currently in good standing are eligible to participate in extended bidding. Extended Bidding begins at 7:00 p.m. PT.
The first bidding window occurs from 7:00-7:30 p.m. PT. Any collectible that does not receive a bid from 7:00-7:30 p.m. will close promptly at 7:30 p.m. Any collectible still active after 7:30 p.m. PT will close if it does not receive a bid within 5 minutes, and any collectible still active after 8:00 p.m. PST will close if it does not receive a bid within 1 minute.
Can I use a third-party sniping service in the Fanatics Collect Weekly Auction?
No, we do not permit third-party sniping services, but do allow maximum bids to be placed throughout the auction. If you place a max bid, it will also carry over into Extended Bidding as long it remains above the highest current bid. You may also place a max bid during Extended Bidding. Max bids are kept strictly confidential with third-party IT firewalling and encryption and additional third-party cybersecurity monitoring and process auditing. Maximum bids placed with Fanatics Collect leverage the most secure software system in the market.
What are the benefits of participating in the Weekly Auction?
The Weekly Auction provides many benefits to buyers and sellers, including but not limited to high-resolution images, a low $5 initial bid, attentive customer service, and a trusted marketplace. Also, if you use the Fanatics Collect Vault, you will not pay shipping costs, and sales tax will be Oregon’s 0% rate on your purchases.
How can I pay for my purchases?
On-account Fanatics Collect funds are the default payment method for transactions of any size. If you do not have sufficient on-account funds to fully cover your purchase, there are several other payment methods from which to choose depending on your transaction, some of which include a surcharge:
Credit card for transactions below $10,000, 2.9% surcharge.
Apple Pay for transactions below $10,000, 2.9% surcharge.

How long do I have to make payment?
Weekly Auction: Upon receiving an invoice, buyers have five (5) days to remit payment after a Weekly Auction closes.
Buy Now Marketplace: Payment is required at checkout. However, if an offer is accepted, buyers have five (5) days to complete payment after receiving an invoice.
Monthly Premier Auction: Upon receiving an invoice, buyers have ten (10) days to remit payment after a Premier Auction closes.
How to Use Combined Search Queries.
- You can combine multiple search terms in one query to find more relevant items at once. For example, to search for French and German Pokemon cards, type "Pokemon German", "Pokemon French". While this will not give you exact matches, you'll still see related items in the "Similar Items" section.
- You can mix any search terms, even from different categories, and as many as you want. Try "Tom Brady," "Michael Jordan," and "Lionel Messi."
- Additionally, you can apply any filters to the results in the "Similar Items" section to refine your search.
What is Collect -A,-E, and -S?
These are special designations that Fanatics Collect provides based on our opinion of the eye appeal of the card relative to other examples of that card in that grade. Please refer to the Eye Appeal section on our website to learn more.
What is the difference between Eye Appeal and a technical grade?
The technical grade assigned by the grading companies is determined by a number of factors including surface and corner wear, surface presentation, centering, and others. Within each factor, there is a range of acceptable conditions to earn a particular grade. For example, according to PSA’s stated standards, a NM-MT 8 can tolerate centering registration of 65/35 or better. As such, cards centered both 50/50 and 65/35 are eligible to receive a technical grade of NM-MT 8.
Eye Appeal refers to a card’s visual presentation, or how attractive the card is to the eye. Using the example described above, while a card with 65/35 centering and 50/50 centering are both eligible to earn a grade of NM-MT 8, the card with 50/50 centering is more visually attractive than the card with 65/35 centering.
How does a card get reviewed for these designations, and how is the determination made?
Each vintage card (pre-1987) submitted to Fanatics Collect with an estimated value of more than $250 is automatically reviewed by our team for the Eye Appeal designation for free.
A key component of this program is that Fanatics Collect makes the determination without bias. Fanatics Collect does not charge submitters for this review service. The potential for any bias is further removed by doing the Eye Appeal review after all auction items are sorted by sport, issue, and year, which shields the review team from any submitter information and helps ensure the evaluation is based on visual presentation only.
How much does Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal cost?
Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal is free for all pre-1987 sports cards with a market value of at least $250 submitted to Fanatics Collect. Each such card is automatically assessed for Eye Appeal designation.
What are the three levels of Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal?
The three Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal levels are:
Collect-A (Exceptional) - Top 30%
On average, cards that receive our Above Average designation possess qualities inherent to approximately the top 30-16% of all examples of this specific trading card, assessed at this specific professional grade level.
Collect-E (Above Average) - Top 15%
On average, cards that receive our Above Average designation possess qualities inherent to approximately the top 15-6% of all examples of this specific trading card, assessed at this specific professional grade level.
Collect-S (Superior) - Top 5%
On average, cards that receive our Above Average designation possess qualities inherent to approximately the top 5% of all examples of this specific trading card, assessed at this specific professional grade level.
Does Fanatics Collect charge for the review or charge different auction fees for Eye Appeal-designated cards?
No, Fanatics Collect does not charge for this service, offer a different fee structure, or provide any other benefit for the service that could cause our assessment to be biased.
What training does Fanatics Collect have to assess eye appeal?
Accepting and selling tens of thousands of items each month affords Fanatics Collect a unique and comprehensive perspective on the range of visual presentations for each issue.
How does Fanatics Collect address the variance with a grade (e.g., the range of a PSA 6)?
Although eye appeal has been a concept discussed in the market since its inception, Fanatics Collect has taken the lead in quantifying it and adding predictability to the variance in market value resulting from eye appeal range. Eye appeal within a grade can vary depending on several factors, including centering, surface color, etc. It especially applies to cards in sets that present significant centering, color, and other challenges.
Did the third-party grading companies give Fanatics Collect permission to designate cards with an Eye Appeal sticker? What was their involvement in the creation of these designations?
Fanatics Collect relies heavily on the expertise of the professional grading companies PSA, SGC, and Beckett. Fanatics Collect sought counsel from all three companies independently surrounding eye appeal and its long-standing effect on market value. Their awareness of this venture was a prerequisite to our willingness to create the Eye Appeal scale and unveil the designations.
Can a card get all stickers?
No. Cards with above-average eye appeal will earn a Collect-A designation, cards with exceptional eye appeal will earn a Collect-E designation, and cards with superior eye appeal will earn a Collect-S designation.
How did Fanatics Collect estimate the distribution of eye appeal across the population?
Although these figures will always be estimates and there is an inherently qualitative nature to the analysis, the distribution of visual presentation was estimated based on Fanatics Collect’s extensive knowledge of the market and exposure to more graded cards than any other venue.
Do the Collect-A, -E, and -S and designations impact the registries?
No. These designations are simply intended to call attention to cards with excellent eye appeal.
What happens if I have cards with a PWCC Eye Appeal sticker?
PWCC Eye Appeal stickers will still be honored and denoted with a symbol on auction and Buy Now marketplace listings.
Owners are encouraged to submit cards with PWCC Eye Appeal stickers for review and crossover to new Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal stickers. All cards with existing PWCC stickers will be automatically assessed for a new sticker when submitted to Fanatics Collect. If eligible, your card will get an updated Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal sticker.
If your card is not eligible to cross over, or if it is assessed to be eligible for a downgraded sticker, you will be notified so you can decide if you want to keep the PWCC Eye Appeal sticker or update to the Fanatics Collect sticker.
How do I submit my card with a PWCC Eye Appeal sticker for crossover to a Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal sticker?
To submit your cards with a PWCC Eye Appeal sticker for review, visit your vault and submit an edit request.
Are cards with Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal worth more?
Cards that receive the Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal designation can sell for higher prices given their ranking with the grade.
Does Fanatics Collect offer Eye Appeal assessment for modern cards?
No, Fanatics Collect does not offer Eye Appeal assessment for modern cards.
Modern cards present less variability within a grade than vintage cards because they are newer and typically have not endured the same physical challenges. While Fanatics Collect does not formally identify modern cards with above-average eye appeal, collectors will often consider eye appeal on modern cards when making purchasing decisions. Cards presenting above-average centering, color, corners, and edges for their grade may generate more interest.
Can Fanatics Collect clients bid on their own items?
No. Fanatics Collect’s software prevents the Fanatics Collect user account that submitted a listing from bidding on it. Fanatics Collect prides itself on creating a culture of integrity and trust. We understand its importance to our company, the industry, and collectors. To achieve this goal, Fanatics Collect has implemented measures that ensure a fair and honest marketplace.
What happens when a client places a bid on an item that they do not intend to honor?
Our Marketplace Trust team is highly proactive in monitoring bidding to identify and address any instance of a bid placed without the intention to follow through with the purchase. We have placed permanent blocks on bidders who do not adhere to the Marketplace Tenets. Please refer to the Marketplace Tenets for more details on our monitoring procedures.
If Fanatics Collect identifies a user violating bidding policies, we block them from accessing Fanatics Collect and permanently close their Fanatics Collect account. We also remove shill bids that occur through user collusion.
If a buyer does not pay for a collectible, Fanatics Collect does not list the sales price in our Sales History website tool and relists the collectible in an upcoming auction. We do not return unpaid collectibles to the submitter. This step ensures that comps reflect actual sales.
Can Fanatic Collect employees bid on items in any Fanatics Collect auction?
No. All employees are prohibited from bidding in Fanatics Collect auctions. If an employee violates this company policy, it is grounds for termination. This step protects the integrity of the Fanatics Collect auctions.
Fanatics Collect employees do not receive a discount on items because they cannot bid on items through Fanatics Collect.
Why does Fanatics Collect hide the identity of buyers bidding on auction listings?
Fanatics Collect protects the identity of bidders to help ensure their card preferences are not made public, therefore making the marketplace fairer for all.
