To ensure the highest quality standards and transparency, we have developed guidelines for assessing the condition of trading card holders before processing. Below are answers to frequently asked questions about how we handle damaged card holders:
1. How does Fanatics Collect inspect trading card holders for damage?
When a trading card arrives, we conduct a thorough visual inspection of the card holder. Our Fraud Inspection team performs the final review to determine if any damage affects the card’s integrity or display.
2. What types of damage are evaluated, and what are the criteria?
-
Egregious Damage (Ineligible for Sale):
- Examples: Deep scratches or cracks compromising card protection, damage obscuring the card, or holder breakage indicating possible tampering.
- Action: These items are vaulted as “ineligible,” restricting the client’s ability to sell the card. The client can choose to keep the item vaulted or proceed with fulfillment.
-
Minimal Damage (Eligible for Sale):
- Examples: Small or light scratches that don’t affect the holder’s integrity or card safety.
- Action: Cards with minimal holder damage are listed as eligible for sale, with visible damage highlighted in high-resolution images. For items valued over $5,000, a note will be added to the listing subtitle for transparency.
3. What happens to cards that fail the inspection due to significant holder damage?
- Rejected Cards: We review security footage to confirm the card’s condition upon arrival and process it through our “Ineligible Item” procedure. A note explaining the reason for ineligibility will be added to the submission, which our Customer Experience (CX) team can reference if clients have questions.
4. How does Fanatics Collect ensure transparency about the item’s condition for buyers?
- High-Resolution Images: We use top-tier imaging technology to provide clear, detailed images of every card holder. Any visible damage will appear in these images, allowing buyers to fully understand the item’s condition before bidding.
- Disclosure for Auction Items: For Premier Auction items, any holder damage is detailed in the description. For Weekly Auction and Buy Now Marketplace items, the damage will be noted in the listing subheader.
5. Can clients review images of the item before placing a bid?
Absolutely! We encourage all clients to review our high-resolution images, which clearly display the condition of each card holder. Cards with market values over $5000 will note the case condition in either the description or subtitle if applicable. Please review the full listing, including the images, prior to placing a bid or purchasing a card to ensure you are fully aware of what you are committing to buy.
These procedures protect both the quality of trading cards and the trust of our customers, ensuring a fair and transparent marketplace experience. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to cs@fanaticscollect.com
